Match Report
A first-half hat-trick from Ross Morgan helped Thornton maintain their 100% league record on Saturday.

His first goal came just three minutes into the game as he blocked ‘Burgh ‘keeper Malcolm Coull’s attempted clearance and the ball rebounded into the unguarded net.

After twice coming close to adding to his tally – he volleyed over under pressure from Graeme Soutar then he just failed to connect with Gary Thomson’s low pass across the face of goal – Morgan claimed his and the Hibs’ second in the 25th minute as he headed home John Halley’s corner-kick.

This two goal advantage only lasted two minutes however as Stuart Gray fairly lashed home a free-kick from 20 yards to make it 2-1.

In the 37th minute, Morgan turned provider as his cross found Gary Thomson in the danger area. Before he could pull the trigger, Gordon Davies brought the former Raith man down leaving the referee no option but to award a penalty. There was no question about who would take it and Morgan confidently slammed the ball beyond Coull.

John Halley took full advantage of the strong wind blowing down Memorial Park by netting direct from a corner kick four minutes into the second-half to complete the scoring.

Craig Gilbert’s team will be looking to keep this winning run going when they travel up the A9 to Luncarty next Saturday.
