Match Report
Thornton got back to winning ways following this deserved victory against the team that led the table prior to kick-off.

Gregor Simpson made his debut in midfield for the Hibs against his previous club and he would be pleased with his performance.

The only goal of the game came in the 26th minute when Gary Thomson’s deft header from Ian Hepburn’s left wing cross found the back of the net. Thomson wasn’t far away from making it two with a fierce strike from the edge of the area and then just before half-time, Rosyth ‘keeper, Ross Taylor made a fantastic point blank save to deny John Halley.

Taylor made arguably an even better save from Thomas McAllister in the 81st minute and a minute later Rosyth were reduced to ten men after they had been awarded a free-kick. As the Hibs lined up their defensive wall, the referee spotted Callum Young hitting out at Ian Hepburn in the wall and he was left with no choice but to brandish red. After the stoor had settled, Alan McDonagh took the free-kick but sent the ball wide of Scott Russell’s goal.

John Halley had a great opportunity to extend the Hibs’ lead with three minutes remaining as he raced through one on one with Taylor but the ball rolled agonisingly wide of it’s intended target. Ross Morgan then saw a header strike the outside of the post before, in stoppage time, Thomas O’Brien had Rosyth’s best attempt on goal as he headed Andy McDonald’s corner-kick just over
