Match Report
At half-time, a draw looked an unlikely outcome to this match as up until then, collectively, Thornton ‘couldnae kick sna’ aff a dyke’.

However, the introduction of Stuart McDonald at the start of the second-half coupled with a change in formation transformed the team and they deservedly drew level through their skipper, Ian Hepburn.

The Hibs’ ‘keeper, Scott Russell, was unavailable so a trialist was drafted in and he came to his new team-mates rescue with a great save from Willie Campbell’s tenth minute volley. Campbell had another attempt that came back off the post before Colin Mullen deservedly put Oakley ahead in the 24th minute when he turned and shot low and hard into the net.

It was a different Hibs side that took to the field after the interval and following a period of sustained pressure they eventually equalised in the 68th minute. Ross Morgan took a quick throw-in to Thomas McAllister. He in turn fed McDonald who rolled a great pass into the path of Hepburn who made no mistake from fifteen yards.

Gary Thomson came close to putting Thornton ahead when he cheekily backflicked McDonald’s free-kick, however Kris Bowers was alert to the danger and managed to push the ball round for a corner-kick. Late in the game, the Hibs’ trialist made another brilliant save to deny Mullen his second goal to leave the game all square.

Although both teams remain unbeaten, Rosyth took full advantage to go clear at the top of the league following their 6-1 victory at Lochgelly
