Thornton Hibs continued their pre-season schedule with a game against Balgonie Scotia at Gilvenbank Park, Glenrothes. They took a third minute lead through Coco Mullen and this was the only goal of the first-half. Fielding an almost entirely different team in the second-half, they extended their lead within sixty seconds through Murray Carstairs. By the 58th minute it was 6-0 with further goals from Matthew Gay, John Halley, Carstairs again and Ross Morgan.
After the game, trialist 'keeper, Mike Wilson, put pen to paper for his home town club after six seasons with Thornton AFC.
